I am going to be a junior in high school so I do have more chances to get a better score. But tell me what you guys think.

Composite- 27

English- 26
Math- 27
Reading- 26
Science- 27

Combined reading/writing- 23
Writing- 6 out of 12

You started out really well. Dont worry about the SAT just take the ACT as many times as you can your Junior year. I would be surprised if your scores didnt go up at least a point every time you take it

Hello Smith!

Here is a link to the entering profile for the class of 2014
http://www.usma.edu/Class/2014/profile.asp

It looks like you hit the average in all your areas. Perhaps someone else on here can give you further guidance. There are multiple facets involved for an admissions decision though such as athletics, extracurricular activities and leadership. Good luck in your journey!

14smith15 - you need to improve your scores especially your writing score. Take the SAT early to get a baseline score and work on improving all your scores either through working on a review book or taking a review class. Then retake both the ACT and SAT when you feel your practice tests indicate you're ready. Being in the medium score range of this year's class doesn't matter. Your candidacy will be compared to those with profiles similar to yours: did you overcome adversity, are you an under represented minority, are you a recruited athlete, are you a prep school applicant, are you a prior service candidate? If you aren't in any of these groups your application will be compared to the "academic, leadership, good athlete" group which I can bet had median scores way above the median for the entire class. Scores aren't everything but they help separate you from the many qualified candidates with profiles very similar to yours. Good luck!

Well my goal is to get a composite of 32 by the time I graduate. How much of an advantage would this give me?
