My DD got a LOA early in November and now the portal shows she got a Nomination from the Senator. What happens next. I don't think she got a principal just a nomination.

Is she 3Q? If so, sit back and wait for the BFE. LOA+3Q+Nom=appointment

3Q = triple qualified (academically, medically, physically)
BFE = big fat envelope (which contains paperwork for appointment)

she just called me, she also got another Nomination for AFA today (two total now) and one for Navy. Yes triple, no issues on the LOA. I understand. She was going to another nomination interview tomorrow but I am wondering does she need to?

I don't believe USAFA uses the acronym 3Qd or triple qualified.

toms663: If your DD meets all the listed requirements (such as a nomination) on her USAFA LOA, and she has passed her DODMERB physical (or been granted any/all needed waivers) then she WILL receive an Appointment to USAFA. Because of the Christmas/Holiday season she'll probably receive her Appointment (BFE) early in January. USAFA will figure out which nominating source to charge for her Appointment later.

Congrats to you and your daughter!:thumb:

    Congratulations

If she has an LOA and now has a nomination, she will be offered an appointment. The LOA is a letter of assurance that she will be offered an appointment if she gets a nomination, which she has.
Congratulations, now the roller coaster begins for both of you.

thanks everyone. I understood the triple q as she also applied to USNA. AFA has always been her first choice. My real concern for her was that tomorrows Nomination interview is in the city about 2H drive in good weather and were expecting snow and ice. So, our advice was to see if they could do a telephone screen, which they said they will, thank God. I also was thinking to advise her since she has two for Air Force plus LOA and one for the Navy, no LOA, that she should be safe and stay home. But the phone option will do. I don't want her to look greedy going after all these nominations if not needed, but it seems that is the advice.

Actually, I believe the LOA is a letter of assurance that she will be offered an appointment if she fulfills all the requirements listed in the LOA. Usually one of the requirements is a nomination but may also include other items. Not all LOAs list the same requirements depending on what the candidate still needs to complete.

    TOMS663,

Seeking multiple nominations is not greedy. These candidates are all very competitive and getting an appointment is very difficult and coveted by many. The nomination authorities will determine who to give the nominations to, your son or daughter should compete for them all. The Academy advises all candidates to seek every nomination they are eligible for. This also gives the academy greater flexibility in picking the candidates that they want to select.

Best of luck to you and yours.
