Got It!

Usna2015, we're in the same boat...denied USNA on Saturday and STILL haven't heard from nrotc after nearly 7 months. If I don't get uscga or nrotc, I'm going college program, because I cant imagine not serving now. But your right, a scholarship would definitely boosts my spirits right now...

I am really surprised that some people haven't heard if they got the scholarship after they have waited a considerable amount of time. I finished my packet on the last possible day (from what my recruiter told me) and got an answer a month later. Then again, it seems different for everybody...

P-Flying 17:

Will you be just be placing the April Board selectees into colleges where there are openings and no wait lists? We are hoping that NROTC will give kids who are already on wait lists the first opportunity for openings that come up at schools that are currently full. Thanks so much!

Same situation here....application was complete in July. Still waiting and hoping.

It's two different things, they don't line up together until the waitlists for both Navy and Marine options are worked.

I just talked to the folks in Pensacola they indeed said that they will begin working transfers for Navy in early May. This makes things more difficult with colleges and enrollment deposits since most are due May 1 and you don't know what unit will open up.

Hi P-Flying 17,

I'm not sure I understood your answer above. I guess I am wondering if the April NROTC Board selectees will get spots that have recently opened up at units before the wait list kids? Or, will the wait list kids be placed first in the units where spots have opened? (Talking about spots that have opened recently in popular units where kids did not get accepted to the college or decided to go elsewhere.) Could you please clarify? Seems that when a spot opens at a college unit where a kid was not accepted, that spot should go to someone already on the wait list for that unit before assigning new kids to that unit.

Thanks again.

I can probably answer that question for you, they said that they will NOT handle any transfers until the final NROTC board meets in late April, after all the boards have met and all scholarships awarded then they will begin to work transfers. Thats what they have been telling me and thats what they said today when I called.

It is complicated to explain....It is two separate things, but the same thing. Should be some movement right before government shuts down. Working hard to get it all together to start making offers, that is why phone calls have not been returned and emails have not been answered as quickly as normal, trying to get all things lined up.
