DS was at the local coffee shop yesterday evening, ironically working on a big scholarship video requirement for a plan B school when his phone rang. He looked at the unknown number on the caller ID and said "I wish these obscure colleges would leave me alone" He answered anyway and then jerked into a seated state of attention and started saying "yes sir" thank you sir"....It was Congressman Ratcliffe D4 Texas telling him he would be contacted today to be informed of an appointment. Sure enough he had an email this morning and it was on his portal! He is stoked! He is the first ever from our tiny rural school to win an appointment.

Congratulations. I know from your posts that your DS had applications in to more than one academy. Is AFA the #1 preference?

Congratulations you must be so proud.
Was DS notified of a nomination earlier or was the call nomination and appointment all wrapped up into one?

CONGRATULATIONS!! WOOT! WOOT! That is some great news. Don't forget to add your DS to the 2020 appointment thread. I bet your DS is stoked. Bubble wrap that young man!

DS already knew he was nominated. This was just a call that he had the appointment

Wow, two from Ratcliffe this year! Congrats!!!

I don't know if they were both charged to Ratcliffe. Just glad he got it! DS has very strong resume and scores but we knew we were in with some heavy hitters.

Congratulations from a fellow District 4 (2021) Hopeful!!!

Could you give us a brief overview of his resume?

Happened to have his resume handy. Here are the highlights. I may have included too much here but what he was trying show was how well rounded he is.

Wow! I had been proud of my kid, but now I think he is a pathetic loser. Lol.

Brawny, I think your DS and my DD should meet at USAFA in June. He sounds like the perfect guy that I would want my DD to bring home for dinner! :yllol: Sometimes I make my self laugh! Seriously, you should be proud of that young man. I am not surprised he received an appointment. Congratulations again.

Brovol-lol

Falconsrock- lol, We would certainly have to introduce them. He is pretty shy with the ladies. When he was in Jr. high I thought his career path would be laying on a beach playing a ukulele and renting dive tanks but he has blossomed well. I am trying to find a time soon when I can take him to USAFA for a visit.
