My high school counselor and I calculated my GPA to be 3.91 (freshman-sophomore year). When the Academy updated my portal, they recorded my GPA as 3.84. I understand that sometimes they make corrections to base GPAs off of their scales, but my 3.91 was unweighted and very accurate. Do they calculate theirs on a completely different scale?

Yes. My GPA went from a 3.75 to a 3.69 and I read that the academy cuts off the fluff of many extracurricular activities.

The academy has its own formula to try to make GPAs roughly equivalent across the applicants. That's tough, since it's at the national level.

Also, you can't change it, so don't worry about it.
You can influence your grades, so continue to do your best.

Part of what goes into their calculation, I'm sure, is how competitive your school is. Yeah, I know, you all attend extremely high quality high schools. I also suspect that spolac is correct that they trim of some 'cake' courses. Of course I'm just making what I consider to be reasonable guesses.
