Graduates Pay Scales

I don't even see USMMA on this list and I can't figure out why. But it really doesn't matter. In any case USMMA would fall somewhere in/around the top like SUNY-MC; Mass Maritime, etc. I also don't see Cal Maritime either and it too should be up there. I also don't understand how they computed the various military pays as being so high for O-1.

I don't believe all institutions provide data to the Payscale site.

Payscale.com does not get its data from Institutions. They get it from individuals who go to their web site and fill out an online survey. USMMA is not included in their list because there were not enough surveys submitted from USMMA alumni to provide a statistically valid result.

Payscale.com indicates they need about 100 surveys from a school to include it on their list. USMMA was well below that number. Payscale.com said they only included and had enough data from 56% of the schools with enrollment between 1,000 and 5,000.

Also, keep in mind, none of the data submitted to Payscale.com is validated

I have always been more interested in my DSs probably of getting a good job that they like upon graduation without regard to the avg salary and for the USMMA lead my list. Salary will follow if they do a good job.

Yup. Can't argue with that. I have always considered that I enjoy what I do for a living as a primary reason to take a job. Probably why I am still not rich, I guess.

Good point. But also, there are a number of great basket weavers out there, that love what they do, but the salary doesn't really follow.

Sometimes you meet it half way, do something you like, maybe love, and can get paid for, and then do the other things you love to do on your off-time (because you can now afford to).

But I would also guess USMMA grads have a very good lock on higher salaries than $77K.

Wise man. I think this whole "find what you love to do" deal today is doing kids a disservice. You work to pay your bills, put food on the table, care for your family etc and hopefully have a little left over to do some of those things you love to do.
That said you need to find something that you like or at least don't hate and have the work ethic to do whatever you do well.

Bonuses aren't about how much they are in charge of, it's about how much it costs to create a new one.

True...our kid is a Navy Doc specialist and is in line for some pretty sweet annual bonus payments...he is a surgeon and not "in charge" of anyone...so to speak...just those in the OR with him when he is the lead surgeon.
