    Hi everyone,
I'm a rising First Classman at VMI and my brother will be attending the Citadel in the fall. I know VMI and the Citadel are very similar experiences but is there any Citadel specific advice that you can give me to pass on to my brother? Thanks!

In my day you had to know the Guidon backwards and forwards. Also know current years Chain of Command- Platoon-Company-Battalion-Regiment.

Your brother should do lots and lots of PT - running in the heat and humidity building up to running in the heat of the afternoon. Consider the humidity will be near 90% in Charleston in late August - and temps are high 80s. He will need to pass a PT test to determine if he needs extra PT to build him up to standards. This can be checked out on line.

My VMI grad's BF went to the Citadel, and I think what is the most difficult for the Citadel kids is adjusting to the heat and wearing wool uniforms. He needs to learn the technique and benefits of using talcum powder; otherwise, he could get into serious trouble with the chafing.

Yes the Salt and Peppers look awesome on Parade Day but do pose some issues and in Charleston SC it could be 70 one day and Coastal winds in low 40's or so next. Please don't hold me to the Temps but you get the idea..

Thanks everyone for your responses! As far as PT goes, he's big into lifting and is lacking on the endurance side of things. I'm planning on whipping him into shape this summer before I go to CLC. It seems like most of the advice on the knowledge portion of the program is much like VMI's. It seems like he's in for a fun time.
