So i find it funny how I can get into a prestigious school like the US Coast Guard Academy, but I cant get into any University of California campuses.

But ive already sent in my acceptance to CGA and Im just waiting for r-day. Having fun and making memories while I am still with my friends.

Does anyone know when the informational packets and handbook things come out? Thanks

CGA is probably just better at spotting a quality student than the UCs are.

Don't even get me started on the UC's. I am from California, and I find it absolutely ridiculous how hard it has become for great California students to even get into a public university in their own state. The Cal States don't even look at anything but grades and SAT scores to make their decisions. It's USCGA's gain and California's loss USCGA_hopeful.

Hopeful - were you homeschooled? Is that why you

cannot get into California state colleges? I heard that happens sometimes out there.

Hopeful,

Congratulations on your appointment :thumb:. Evertime I visualize my son getting "THE ENVELOPE", I practically cry. That's how real it is for us. We are TX homeschoolers and trying for EA next year. Would you mind posting your stats? Are you homeschooled?

Hey 2013 Appointee congratulations. Reference your Cadet Handbook
go to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Parents Association and print out two handbooks. One for yourself (read carefully) and one for you parents.

We're mailing them out this week and the Cadet Handbook was posted on the FB 2013 Group this afternoon.
