Hi I was wondering if I should pack foot powder for Plebe Summer and also some chalk for my hands. I noticed that during PS, they lift logs of wood and such and I was wondering if that would cause major blisters. I recently got really big raw blisters on my hands from Crossfit and would have benefited from using chalk. I know this may sound like a silly question...but THANK YOU anyways!

**Pack meaning have my parents send it in a care package

Foot powder may be taken from you on I-Day if you bring it. You may get some blisters or at least hot spots as you break in your boots. Your upperclass will check your feet frequently. The key is if you start to get blisters to let your upperclass know. Moleskin 9 out of 10 times will fix them right up and you won't miss any training. Neglecting them can get them infected or even get bad enough to miss training. Trust me, it is better to take care of them early and you can solve the problem quickly. You won't have the opportunity to use chalk for your hands during those evolutions. You won't have the time to stop and apply it and half the time you will be going in out of water and it will wash. Bottom line is your feet and hands will toughen up over time. If you have issues let your upperclass know and most of the time it can be solved with some moleskin.

You will be issued foot powder (unless theyve changed it from last year). And ive never heard of anyone getting blisters on their hands during ps...

Big stuff doesn't usually make blisters, just things like pullup bars. Also, why was your box not demanding chalk. Not cool. They taught me that in Elements.

Foot Care

Just a helpful hint - wear sock liners into I-day and keep this first pair clean - a quick rinse and air dry every night. Have some additiona pairs pre-packed in your first care package.. Always try to keep your feet 'doubled up' sock liner with oversock. These will wick the moisture into your outersock, reducing the chance of developing blisters. Also, get with your friends from your HS cross country team and learn how to use Moleskin. Include this in your care package. Odds are good that you'll not need it if you use sock liners.... But you'll be a great ship mate with the mole skin, which makes great cushions for BCG's. I alway's carried these items in my seabag..

This is great info. Where do you find sock liners?

LL Bean has lighweight wicking sock liners.

Check sporting goods stores/outdoor sports stores. :thumb:
