I'll never forget a Gunny Sgt telling me at Quantico Marine Corps Birthday Ball in 1984, as he lit a cigarette after his umptenth whiskey sour, that on this day in 1968 he was charged with four counts of premeditated murder and sent to "LBJ" (Long Binh Jail) in South Vietnam to await court martial. He then laughed and walked away and I never found out what he was talking about. Obviously he wasn't convicted, but I've always wondered what was the rest of the story. He frightened the hell out of me, though, so I never asked.
