Have any other plebes not heard from sponser families

My son informed us that he had still not gotten a sponsor family.The day they were to meet them during Plebe summer they were a no show. Any ideas out there on how to help along the process of finding one. I know he can hang with the roomates families and maybe get adopted but is there someone he can go to to see if he can be assigned one???

I would recommend he contact whoever registered him for the sponsor program and explain his situation. On the other hand, keep in mind the time of year and the approaching Labor Day weekend and start of school. Undoubtedly some of the sponsors are on end of summer vacations, taking kids to college, or perhaps just unavailable due to the press of business. I would pursue step one, but not be surprised if the sponsor is absent due to the second part of this response.

Our son's sponsor told us that there are always extra plebes that end up gravitating to one family or another. Your son could go to a roommate's sponsor family ... they will likely welcome him ...

Plebe should contact Rose Clark, USNA Sponsor Program coordinator, 401-293-7031, Email sponsor@usna.edu, and let her know the situation. He can ask to be reassigned, no harm no foul. She may even call the assigned sponsor to see what's up. Lots of informal adoptions go on. It will work out.
