    FYSA:

Some Academy Admissions Partners in our area doing interviews working for the Gov't are in a furlough status.
Might have to do some extra coordinating with your Admissions Officer.

If they're furloughed, they should have plenty of time to continue volunteering as a AAP.

No, You don't understand. Furloughed personel are NOT allowed to work for the govt! Thus, fewer lower partners available for interviews.

Guess I missed the humor in LITS post. Wasn't trying to be
    Rude.

It is actually a little fuzzy for AAP's who are in the CG Auxilliary. Aux has been stood down, and cannot participate in any activities for the Coast Guard beyond email or phone calls. This remains in effect for 30 days past the budget resolution of last night. Now, they could do so as an unattached civilian rather that a member of the CGAux, but how that is made clear is the fuzzy part.

So AAP, despite not being employees of the federal government in any way, are banned from volunteering?

I don't think so. If I am a furloughed federal employee, and I want to work somewhere that isn't closed... I'm pretty sure I can do that. I cannot work in my official capacity, but AAP isn't an "official capacity."

    It's an interesting subject though.

Either way, many federal employees just got two weeks of paid vacation....

    so my message....

AAP's not in the CGAux, no issues AFAIK. AAP's in the CGAux, eh, carry on and not report time as CGAux time.

Nice to know they just doubled CGAux pay, or tripled it....:yllol:

    Point is moot now but..
I agree with you LITS. An AAP is not an gov't employee and would not be affected by the shutdown.
Maybe Guidance from the CGA should have been communicated to CGAUX Partners that their volunteerism to the Academy was NOT considered "official capacity" relating to their Furlough Status instructions below. Which is fuzzy as AUXNOOB pointed out.

"During the furlough period, you will be in nonpay, nonduty status. You will not be permitted to serve as an unpaid volunteer, this means you cannot work, even remotely, and must remain away from your work place unless and until recalled."

It was assumed by my CGAUX/AAP that he could not "serve" the Coast Guard while in a furlough status.
So.. I was just passing information that I encountered from my AAP.
Concesquently, interview is setup for next week. All good.
