Hello,
I'm a junior applying to USNA and USMA. I am unfortunately completely deaf in my left ear from birth. Honestly, though, I have perfect hearing overall and barely have any more trouble than any other normal person. My right ear makes up for what was lost.

For the DoDMERB, I expect this to disqualify me... so my question is how easy will it be to appeal to this? Again, although I can only hear out of one ear, my hearing overall is completely fine.

Carlton - Cut and paste your posting; provide me your full name and last 4 SSN; and send to me at Larry.Mullen@dodmerb.tma.osd.mil. I can assist you better from there and will answer you this weekend.:thumb:

good day carlton! this may sound rather weird/pathetic but i almost cried when i read your post.. i have been deaf in my right ear since birth. it's painful to think about how long i've dreamt of going to west point and one thing beyond my control can hinder that.

take care..

I know how old your post is, but wondering if you were able to join the military with single sided deafness. Dealing with a similar situation now.

OP posted this one post. Hasn’t been seen back on site a month after posting.
