Hey guys I am new to the forum, I have my application in and everything is done, now I'm just waiting to hear form DODMERB. I have a feeling I failed the hearing exam, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they know of any possibilities for getting hearing waiver.

Short answer, depends. Long answer, it depends on how bad you failed it. My friend barely failed it when he had his exam, got sent to an audiologist to make sure he could wear a certain type of helmet (???), and was fully medically cleared. Keep hope and wait vigorously.

+1 mb1395, it depends.

If they send you for a remedial...be smart...the night before go silent. Don't listen to your Ipod, or even watch tv.

My Bullet at a very early age failed the hearing (certain tones), but the flight surgeon told him to go home and have no noise for at least 12 hrs prior to the exam. He passed the following day. However, it was silence for a total of 18 hrs or so (failed the exam mid-day, took it the next morning).

Futuremid,

I used to hunt and shoot all the time without hearing protection and actually failed my hearing test in the higher frequencies. It didn't even show up on my DoDMERB. I wouldn't worry about it too much
