I'm going into my junior year in high school. I have 1 year of American history already, and I do not know whether I should take a more advanced US history class or a sociology/psychology class. The more advanced class is AP US history. Any help is appreciated.

Do you have room for both? My junior year I took AP US History and AP Psychology at the same time, you just have to sub out an elective. It is a useful and interesting class. It can be a bit much at times when you add it on top of all the other AP classes you'll probably be taking, remembering the names and processes for the brain's anatomy can be exasperating when you also have to write an FRQ document based paper for APUSH and annotate 50 pgs for AP Lit, but most of it really is just common sense. On the AP Psych test you don't even have to write in paragraph form, they just want you to answer the freaking question lol. An old top scoring paper was written in bullet points (I did the same thing and got a 4). Just prioritize. I don't know if it is the same for the academys, but my interviewer for an rotc scholarship seemed impressed that I had taken another AP social studies class instead of a filler elective.

If you are looking to validate a course, you can use APUSH to validate plebe history (if you get a 5), but you cannot use AP Psych to validate plebe psychology.
