Hello, I am currently a junior in highschool, and it is time that I start working on nomination stuff. Some of the Senators in Texas do not have a printable form to fill out on their website and require applicants to send a letter requesting a packet. I, however, am curious if there is a certain format I should use in this letter. Any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Any business style letter really. If you are using Word to type your letters there plenty of templates that will set it up for you. But honestly it sounds like your doing this stuff really early. Not that it's a bad thing, but things could happen that you want to include in your packets so don't jump the gun and send them off to soon.

I agree that you are a bit early, though there's nothing wrong with being eager to start knocking things out.

I will say, unless it has changed in the last few days, that Senator Cruz's SAT code appears to be 0261, rather than 1261 (which is some college in Michigan) which is listed on his website. You have to search for "Cruz" and "District of Columbia" (vs Texas) to find the correct code.

I emailed his office about it a few days ago but did not receive an acknowledgement

Nomination Letter

Same boat as you. If you want a template to request an application I believe there is template on the USAFA admissions webstie. Just click on the The Application Process tab, then go to the nomination subsection, and there should be a link to a template right under the section for Congressional Nominations. (I'd post a link but I don't have enough posts yet) Just replace the USAFA stuff with USNA and it should work nicely for you.:thumb:

*It might just be a letter for solely requesting a nomination, but it could serve as a good base for requesting an application. I'm about to write to our senators too.
