Hi, I'm a contracted AFROTC cadet in my sophomore year. I've already gone through the DoDMERB process to get the in-college scholarship I was awarded and I think I may have a hiatal hernia. I burp more often than usual (not the usual ones that make noise but more like a short expelling of air) and often get heartburn a couple of times a day. This developed a few months ago after I went through DoDMERB already and got the scholarship. I was wondering if this condition could get me kicked out of ROTC if diagnosed. I've heard the military doesn't want people who have to take everyday medication for things like acid reflux and people wishing to join the military are usually disqualified for that. However, would surgery be an option for me since I've already taken the oath? Or does it not matter? Much thanks for any info.
