History Being Made.....

Thank you Sledge! Congrats to the ladies and best of luck to all of the folks trying to earn their tabs.

2 of the remaining 3 passed Mountain Phase and will move on to Florida phase. The other one will recycle Mountain Phase.

Amazing, they now have a very good chance of tabbing it appears. (85%+ if I recall the current stats)

I think the latest I saw all had been released. Hope that is true. Man that had to be scary!

Per the article "The students were learning lightning protection protocols at the time of the incident."

Just goes to show you that you can only do so much when mother nature is involved.

Just out of curiousity... Not sure how it works for Ranger training... For those that returned after a quick check I am sure they continued training. For those who had to say overnight... will they remain in training or be rolled back to restart that phase? Is there a limit like 24 hours of missed training or is it staff discretion?

There was a limit, so I assume there is a limit still. I wanted to say total of 24 hours per phase.

November Ranger Class is open to women.

What I saw said commands are to select Ranger Candidates as they would have in the past, to wit "COMMANDS WILL SELECT AND PREPARE RANGER STUDENTS ACCORDING TO THEIR CURRENT UNIT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. " That appears to read that there will be no special train-up for females as there was for the first integrated class.

I can't imagine there not being a quota.

They will need to move quickly assuming a trip through pre-ranger first.

With a son in that pipeline, this is going to get very close to home. Selfishly, I was hoping for him he'd get through before that world became more complicated.

I live in the town where Ft. Benning is located. Ranger training has allowed select members of the press to cover this process. Thought you might be interested in the latest story by our local reporter who has been at Eglin watching these events unfold. This particular story offers some interesting statistics regarding the numbers who attempt and complete this training.

While some of the females in the first RS class may have received "special train-up" not all did. Many worked on their own time without much guidance, resources, training etc.

They all went to Ranger Training and Assessment Course (RTAC), which, for men, is only open to National Guard and Reserve components.

And yes, some ringers certainly did their own training also. Funny how she only decided to get back into the reserves right before this assessment.

No slight to the women soldiers in the program... But I've been following this fairly closely and seen no indication of that. This first batch was hand selected and groomed. I don't mean anything negative about pointing that out.

Males need to train up as well, and do. But its an expectation not a grooming. You will do this if you go infantry. Even with pre-ranger, it is hard to come in ready for RAP week without a trainup.

Put another way, outside of a small number of WP grads who are doing an experimental Ranger before IBOLC, the 1st wave of Infantry 2015 WP grads in IBOLC have been doing PT train up since late June, and the earliest Ranger class they could hit will be January. And most started trainup well before graduation.

Right now they are routinely doing 12 mile rucks at RS pace with 45 lb rucks, plus roughly 8lbs of water. Plus ammo loadout, plus 7-8lbs of M4 optic, and sling. In 95 degree heat. In addition to regular PT. This is just building up for just one part of the first wk at RS. And by all accounts, not the hard part!

I believe you have a female cadet. If she wants to give it a try she should get on a Sandhurst team asap. Seriously train for and try to win a competitive MIAD slot for sapper or similar.
