Hey guys,

Already ignorantly posted an introduction thread on the West Point forum a couple months back, and now though I would do it the right way and maybe it would be better received:)

I am currently a candidate for West Point and USNA, along with ROTC and NROTC national scholarship applications, and just decided to close my application to the USAFA a couple of weeks ago due to waning interest in the AF due to the lack of different career opportunities.. (My dad is a USAFA grad and wasn't too happy about this, lol:) I was happy to discover yesterday that I received a CVW offer to the USNA and shortly before that I received an LOE from the USMA and will be going on an overnight visit on the eleventh of October! Really excited and nervous about that! haha.

Also, I am from New Jersey, and was wondering if there are any fellow candidates out there from around my area! Any advice or small talk would be appreciated and I am willing to help anyone else out in anyway that I can!

Welcome!

Welcome! I`m only a sophomore, but I`ll be applying to USNA and USMA soon enough...I suppose you can guess what my top school choice is (Look at my signature). A LOE and CVW is very encouraging! Congrats on making it that far! What`s your top school? USNA or USMA?

Well, for being a sophomore you seem incredibly well informed haha. I wish that I was as prepared as you when I was a sophomore, would have made this summer a lot less stressful! Anyways I would have to say that if accepted to both acads I would select WP. However these two visits may radically change that!

Hola! Que pasa? Como esta? Congrats on your journey to one of the SAs! Would you mind sharing stats that allowed you to receive your LOE?

I know! Excited!

And to Dlee96, here is a basic overview-

SAT- 690/620/620 (Not the best, taking this Saturday and have been getting 2100+ on my practice tests)
1 of 44 in my class (I go to a small private school), GPA is 4.0 but I took AP English and passed the AP test with a 4 so not sure if weighted average is higher. Never asked.

Sports-
3 years varsity baseball and soccer, soccer captain this year.

Leadership-
NHS member, CAP member, Church Youth Group member, Boys State Attendee.

Pres Nomination received and Qualified through DoDMERB

Overall, I do not think, compared to some other candidates, that I seem so outstanding, so maybe other factors like my essay went into the LOE, or I could just be downing myself lol.

Now I have also added
ACT- 33 English/ 32 Math/ 33 Reading/ 29 Science/ 29 Writing
Senior Class President
Baseball Captain (Asked Coach if I was being considered so that I could put it in my app.)
CFA Scores
Bball 71
Pullups 12
Shuttle Run 9.2
Sit Ups 95
Push Ups 64
Mile 705

There you go, just a short overview! I am ready and willing to answer any questions you have!

:thumb: Looks great! Your interviews and letters of rec. can definitely have an impact too.
