Anyone know what a hold status this early means? My profile just changed yesterday.

Do you have a complete application on file? If so I think that hold means your application was reviewed and not disqualified, but they need to review all of the applicants from your state prior to determining who they are going to admit. So it is good in the sense that you are still in the mix.

My application has been complete for a month now, including dodmerbs. Good to hear it isn't a bad thing!

Hold status is like the part of the recent version of Journey to the Center of the earth, where they fall down a tube, and then just fall and fall and fall. Hold is the same thing. Just goes on forever. And, no matter how many times you check the portal, it doesn't change. But, everyone else is in the same boat

I was just put on hold status with 3 noms, and everything in except my DODMERB. Do yall think I'm on hold bc they don't have my DODMERB qualification yet, or bc they reviewed my application and want to wait until later for an appointment?

Mr.2021 - Your package is not complete yet. Until you get the DODMERB in and you are all clear with it you will be on hold and will not get any appointment until then.

I got cleared by DODMERB for USMMA a few days ago, and it's showing in my portal now. Do you have any idea of when can I expect to hear back? Is there anything else I can do to possibly continue to help my file while I'm waiting? I have everything in with 4 nominations. Thanks!

Did your status change from hold? Assuming everything is in and your package is complete, it is now in the hands of admissions. You will be compared to other candidates from your state and a decision will be made. Nobody can tell you your chances of receiving an appointment since nobody knows the all of the other candidates and their qualifications that you are being compared to. Just continue to do your best make sure you have your backup plan B in place. Best to you and your pursuit.

Mr2021. Congrats on the 4 noms, but, usmma is different than the DOD schools. With usmma the decision is statewide, not nomination source specific. The number of noms helps at the DOD schools, not so much at usmma. With regards what to do--continue to work on your resume and update such when appropriate. Another varsity letter? Another community award or honor or activity? upload 7th semester grades. continue with an open dialogue with your admissions officer. continue with open dialogue with your coach if applicable. Work to arrange an overnight. Send in AP scores. and, take nothing for granted. work on plan B and C and make sure you have a plan D and E and some of those alternate plans need to be at a school that is not an academy. Do not let up on the physical conditioning. And, prepare yourself for a likely couple or three month wait.

Hey, I was nominated to USMMA recently but noticed that I am on hold. The only thing left to submit is my 7th semester grades other than that my application is complete. I was wondering if this is a "bad" thing or just a normal process?

Normal - good. It means that there is something missing from your file - or that is yet unreviewed. Perhaps, for example, your SAT scores meet the minimum but are not high enough for acceptance yet or for early acceptance. Do whatever you can or submit any thing needed to improve your package.

Thank you, semperFi802, I am also talking to the swim coach and will try to work that angle.

Mine hasn't changed even though I finished my application in late November, why is this happening? I thought it should be reviewed by now.

Vitalzt; "why is this happening" -- because it is the normal process. Hold means you have met minimum requirements, and are in the running, but that admissions has not made final decisions as to the different states. And, remember, nominations do not have to be in until the end of January, so there is some more wait time ahead for you and others on the hold list.

I've been on hold for about 2 months as well. Just hang in there... I've been biting my nails too.

What does it mean if you have been in the "App on File" status for several weeks and not moved to hold yet?

If you are not missing any requirements, it means that it has not yet cleared the initial review stage, after which, if it meets minimums, etc., will likely be moved to hold, or another designation
.
