As the deadline is coming closer, I'm beginning to get worried about my chances of acceptance to USAFA.

I am a male from District 8 in Tucson, Arizona

I have received my Congressional Nomination from Gabrielle Giffords (which I hope she makes a full recovery).

I attended the Summer Seminar in June 2010.

My ACT scores are:
Math:27
Reading:26
English:26
Science:24
Composite:26

My SAT Scores are:
Math: 600
Reading Comprehension: 530

I have yet to take the CFA but right now I am at:
1 Mile Run: 6:00-6:20
Push ups: 60
Sit ups: 70
Pull ups: 5 (Really working hard on trying to improve that)
Shuttle run: 9.2
Basketball throw: I don't know

I have participated in Cross Country my freshman and Sophomore year, Swimming my Junior year and have done Track and Field every year.

I am Drum Major of our school's Marching Band, have worked part time every year in high school. (I have also been promoted at my job)

I am President of Key Club International, and have been a member for 2 years.

I have also held officer/member positions in other clubs as well.

I am in National Honors Society.

I also volunteer at an After School Day Care

I have yet to finishing writing my essay.

I know my scores are low, though I was wondering based off of this information, whether or not it is likely I will get appointed to the United States Air Force Academy?

You need to get your application done now. You also need to get your pull ups at a higher number. I don't know what they consider failing on pullups, but that seems very low. Your ACT is decent but a lot of Cadets have ACT scores in the 30s.

It's hard to gauge a lot from just that though. Your extracurriculars/sports etc have a lot of impact on your file.

Well, obviously, except for the CFA, you have done whatever it is you could do. In other words, is there anything you can do to change those scores? Nope. A little late for that. So there is absolutely nothing you need to worry about. Why worry about something you have absolutely no control over. Does it matter if those are great scores or terrible scores? Nope; you can't change them, so it doesn't matter. I do suggest you get your application finished. Which means your CFA. Remember; NO ONE at the academy has even looked at your application. If it isn't 100% complete, they don't even look at it. That means, without a bunch of other arizona applicants posting their credentials, none of us can compare you. But the main 2 points are:
1. You can't change what you've already submitted. Nothing you do can change that. So it doesn't matter if they're good or bad. There's absolutely NOTHING you can do about it.
2. Until the CFA is done, and your application is complete, the academy never even looks at it. No different than if you were just starting it today. So, finish it.

The fact that you received a nomination is a very good thing. That's more than a lot of people got. But there is nothing about your application that anyone can say is good/bad. It all depends on who in your state you are actually competing with and their scores. And if necessary, the rest of the individuals in the country you are competing with. And unfortunately, none of us know any of their scores. But like we recommend to everyone: Finish your application, submit it, apply to all your other colleges and universities, and best of luck to you. mike.....

Thank you for looking over what I have. I've updated it with my extracurriculars. I forgot to put those on there before. Thanks

I'm CC on this one. If you want something to "worry" about it should be completing the remainder of your your application ASAP. Having a nomination is great but you don't want you application up for consideration late in the the queue after others have completed theirs 3 to 4 months ago.

What is the latest date that the AF accepts SAT scores? Will they still accept the Jan. 22 scores?

If you get your scores back before Feb and send them in before Feb 15 then yes they will still accept them
