I don't hear much about Kansas on this forum so I thought I would go ahead and ask the question for my own sake: How competitive is Kansas usually for USAFA appts?

Not very. When it comes to being competitive your top states have traditionally been:
CO
CA
TX
FL
NY
VA
and sometimes PA

Population is really the reason why. Every cong. has the same amount in their district, but every state still only has 2 Sens, thus, the less populated the state the less competitive.

Plus, what makes states competitive also has to do with the amount of military installations.

CO -AFA
TX --- tons of AF Bases
NY ---USMA
VA -- Pentagon, Langley, Andrews, etc.
FL --- Pensacola

Getting the idea? Military bases also have military children, many opt to go in the family business of the military so that makes it even more competitive.

Thats about what I figured. Would the fact that only one of our two senators accepted nominations this year affect much? I have a nom from the only senator that accepted applications as well as my representative. I'm going to toss up my stats just to see what anyone has to say, let me have your opinion.

ACT
Math: 28
English: 29
Science R: 31
Reading: 33

GPA:~3.6 unweighted
multiple AP's, Honors, highest classes available, blah blah
top 10% of class

Eagle Scout
Captain in Civil Air Patrol
CAP Squadron Cadet Commander
Class President
NHS
4 year football, 2 year letter, senior captain
4 year band, 4 year letter, 2 year section leader
Part time job since 13
a bunch of little stuff

Again, I am from NE Kansas, 3Q'd, 2 Nom's, and very anxious. I guess this is my self-introduction to the forum :thumb:

I drove across Kansas this past summer. 104*. 519 miles of nothing. We saw only 2 people digging a hole on the side of the road.
