How do you submit something that does not exist?

Online application shows:
Status: "candidate"
Application: "incomplete" "Candidate admission files must be completed by February 15th to be considered for regular selections in March..."
Missing: "college transcript"

The situation is that:
1. DS is a Falcon prepster
2. EVERYTHING has been turned in (including a transcript of Dec. 2010 grades) & he confirmed with USAFA counselor that all items were received....BUT he was told that the application would not reflect being complete until his May 2011 grades (aka final transcript) was received.

Please help me understand:
How can an APPLICATION which has a deadline of Feb.15th be incomplete because there is something missing (final college transcript) which does not even exist nor will it exist by the Feb. 15th deadline?

[Last year's application reflected his status as "Candidate" & application as "Complete" (but his final high school transcript had not been submitted).]

What gives?

Our son was a Falcon scholar recipient last year. He attended the local Junior College in the spring semester and we had to rush his grades to the academy when his semester ended in late May. His offer was contingent on the grades for the spring semester. He is now currently a c4c. So i would think they mean his Falcon offer/appointment is contingent on those grades. Just my guess from our experience last year.

Thank you so much. It is a great relief to hear from someone who has already traveled that road.

Don't worry. I'm in the same situation, my admissions counselor said that it won't show "complete" until my final college grades are received. They WILL still review your file, however, and give you a conditional appointment (if qualified) and then you send it your final grades. If you don't fail anything and stay strong, you will then get that legit appointment.

My son was also a Falcon scholar last year. It worked exactly the same. He is currently a C4C also! Don't worry!!

Thank goodness that this forum is in existence and that all of you are willing to share.

I cannot help but think that there is a much better way that the online application could reflect the situation by saying:

"APPLICATION IS COMPLETE. Please be advised that IF you should receive an appointment, final admission to the Academy is contingent on receipt of your final academic transcript with grades that meet the Academy standards".

[Does anyone at USAFA see the ideas from this forum??!!]

The important thing for a Falcon is last semester's transcript. NMMI sends out transcripts to both the Falcon Foundation and the USAFA Admissions office automatically. I assume the other four Prep schools do likewise. We will also send out this semester's mid-term grades and final transcript.

As I understand it, the new "boss" at the Foundation (Lt. Gen. Kelley) wants to take the Falcons to the Admissions Board in February for conditional appointments. The Falcon Foundation sent emails to their five participating schools requesting all the data be updated and ready to go.

I'll join the "chorus" here and say, "Rest easy."
