I was the person that posted earlier because I was disqualified for myopia- nearsightedness greater than -8.00

I found out that the DODMERB eye examiner gave me a completely incorrect prescription. The prescription that was submitted to DODMERB was -10.5/-9.5

However, my medical records show that my true prescription is -7.00/-6.50. Two different eye examiners from different locations have given me -7.00/-6.50 as my prescription and agree that -10.5/-9.5 is outrageously wrong.

Unfortunately I am already disqualified and I do not know if there is anything I can do about this. I guess my only option is to wait and see if I can get a waiver.

Has this happened to anyone before? How should I proceed? Thanks in advance.

Get on the phone to the DoDMERB help desk and see what guidance they can give you.

My son was DQ'd once for USNA due to the color vision test. Independent test was done by other optometrist. It was accepted and the DQ was dropped. DoDMERB folks will work with you.

Do not wait to correct this (or make any other corrections). And it is on YOU to get the ball rolling.

As fencersmother said. It is on You. Had a problem with DoDMERB and we worked through it with independent MD. They were very gracious and helpful at Dodmerb. Director of DoDMERB called us and said we are not in the business of keeping these kids out of the military and we will make all efforts to overturn a stupid DQ.

Thank you all! I called DODMERB and sent them the correct results from other eye doctors. Still waiting to see if they will overturn the DQ.

Had this with a young man in rural North Carolina about 4 years ago...it took a LOT of work however...

He's in the Class of 2016.
