How does Admissions keep track of who is showing interest?

I was wondering how the Academy knows prospective cadets are at a certain interest level.
Things like:
contacting AO(often)
Requesting interview
updating package with new material
contacting heads of programs of interest(i.e. musicians contacting the band director/athletes contacting coaches)

Just curious as what kind of role this kind of interaction can play, or how it is even kept track of(do they talk to the AOs and ask if X candidate kept in touch?)

Thanks!

This is surmise on my part but here are the areas of interest I think they keep track of:
1. Were they interested enough to open an application
2. Were they interested enough to complete the application.
3. Were they interested enough to put in the effort to get a nomination and, in fact, obtain one?
Aside from the contents of the application itself I think that covers their interest in your interest.

CGA doesn't require a nomination

But otherwise good information. Just from what I've read, attending academy events and requesting an interview also shows additional interest.

Though this does play a role in your application, I would think it would be very minor compared to everything else. However, I don't think they would appoint someone who was extremely qualified but had absolutely no interest in CGA or the Coast Guard...

I would follow the advice listed in the Class of 2017 Applicant Handbook:

Influencing Admissions Decisions

Besides completing your application by the Early Action or Regular Admission deadlines, there are steps you can take to improve the probability that you will be selected for an appointment.

Demonstrate interest. Because we employ all our graduates, your interest in the Academy and the Coast Guard is an important consideration. There are many ways to demonstrate interest. For instance, we highly encourage you to make at least one campus visit and keep in close contact with your Admissions Officer. Once you complete your online application, you are eligible for an optional interview which can be completed either at the academy or in your local area with an Academy Admissions Partner.
