Hi everyone, sorry if this question has been posted before. I am new to all these forums but I tried to search as much as possible before asking. I am a 200 and I am trying to take the TBAS early so I can have the chance to take it a second time if needed before our packages are submitted junior year. I was advised by my brother and another air force pilot to take it early for the same reasons. I spoke with my det and they said that I cannot take it until I am within a year of graduation, which means I can't take it until my junior year, which then means I will not have enough time to take it a second time. Does anyone know if there is a regulation on how early I can take the TBAS or if that's just my det? I tried to look through the AFI's but couldn't find anything on this. Thank you!

From my understanding you can take the TBAS once you've taken the AFOQT (and hence have that correlating pilot score). I took the TBAS my 200 year and scheduled it on my own.

I concur with Bird12. To my knowledge, nothing prohibits you from scheduling and taking the TBAS on your own accord. In my detachment, and in many others, the standard practice is to take it during your AS200 year so that you have enough time to re-take it if needed.
