Currnet Mid here C/O 2015 reporting some troubling and discouraging news from Bancroft

MIDN X is a recruited wrestler who was part of NAPS Class of 2011 (USNA Class of 2015) but was kicked out of NAPS conduct and honor issues.

MIDN X was subsequently readmitted, upon reapplying, to NAPS as part of NAPS Class of 2012 and is currently a plebe at USNA as part of Class of 2016

MIDN X is currently being put up for an honor offense (allegedly for cheating on a proquiz)

Stuff like this just makes me sick and further epitomizes the notion that USNA admissions will go to great lengths to recruit its athletes at the cost of lowering admissions standards and rejecting well qualified non-recruited athletes. If you ever wonder why someone with a 4.0 in high school and solid SATs, and varsity sport participation, and nomination was rejected, this is why, because USNA appoints people like MIDN X for the sake of maintaining its varsity sports programs.

If any moderator or USNA grad could elaborate on the situation I'd like to hear your input. Thanks

Well I had already figured this was the case and it makes me SICK. My DS has a dream in his heart to be at USNA and he is at a prep school now trying for the second time to get in. As taxpayers we should be outraged

I'm surprised that USNA would bend over backwards for a recruit in a non-revenue sport like wrestling. (Now football, on the other hand . . .)

I'm guessing there's more (or less) to the story than what has been circulating via the Bancroft grapevine.
