How Long After Getting ROTC Scholarship is DoDMERB?

Hi, I am a rising high school senior and I am applying for an Army ROTC scholarship. I am hoping to be awarded a 4-year scholarship when the first selection board convenes, which would be October 24-28. I know that if I am awarded a scholarship, I would have to take the DoDMERB some time (soon?) after, does anyone know when?

The reason I ask is because I am currently taking Accutane, which I must be off of for 8 weeks before I take the DoDMERB. I am scheduled to finish taking the medication in December, but I will absolutely stop taking it at any point in time if necessary.

You must be DODMERB qualified before contracting with (or without) a scholarship. If you're only pursuing an ROTC scholarship (vs one of the service academies), you literally have until the last day of your first semester to obtain qualification. Our program has even retroactively obtained scholarship benefits for a four year scholarship winner whose waiver was not approved until the second semester.

All that said, you will still have to disclose your prescription during DODMERB appointments, but you won't even be prompted to begin the DODMERB process until after you are awarded a scholarship.

while you have to qualify prior to contracting, you need to make an appointment within 45 days of getting the packet from Concorde ( they handle the exams for DoDMERB).

I don't know the soonest any ROTC scholarship triggers DODMERB. However, I do know that I applied for NROTC in May and I got my DODMERB exam a couple days ago.

Sophie, did you also apply to a Service Academy?
ROTC only triggers after the award of a scholarship, Academies when the application reaches a certain point.
One exam will be used for both.
Important note, my son got an exam packet because of his WP application. He decided not to complete the application and did not have the exam. He later won an AROTC scholarship. The new exam triggered within a few days but he received no notice of it. Concorde will not send another packet.
