Hi,

I got an LOA in October and a nomination this week. But when I took my physical I was unable to do well on the hearing exam. Thus DODMERB said my hearing exceeded medical accession standards, pending waiver submission request, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long it usually takes them to respond with medical record requests and so forth. I called my BGO and he said to email my counselor if I don't receive any communication in two weeks.

Keep communicating with your counselor. They will walk you through the process. My DS received a DQ in October of last year (USMA) and the academy let him know everything he was required to do as they determined if they were going to grant him a waiver. They may have you see another Dr to perform an independent exam. Also know - each academy processes a number of waivers each year so it could take a bit til you get an answer.

My DS heard about the DQ in October - was granted his waiver in late March and received his appointment shortly thereafter.

Hope this helps - just stay close to the paperwork required and be patient - it could take a bit!

Just want to add - this is only one cadet's experience and he did all the legwork. I am not an expert or a person who has worked officially on admissions or with DoDMERB LOL! Just a dad who watched his son walk through the process. Others may have different experiences or additional insight.
