How many NROTC scholarships?

thanks

Question #2 is related to question #1: Unfortunately you need to be able to access the link that is currently not working. Normall once you sign in with your SSN and DOB you will get a screen with the current status of your scholarship application. As I recall there is a link there that you can open your original application. So.....once the NROTC fixes one problem you can check to see if you have another problem.

Thank you both. I do remember seeing those options before, but not now. So I guess we will have to be patient until things are fixed. It's going to be a long weekend! :frown:

Did you manage to get your son's actual application corrected? Who did you contact? My son's SAT scores were added up incorrectly by the local office (100 points less than actual). When I opened his application it is still incorrect but the NROTC person I've written to said it is correct in "the system". Needless to say I have some concerns about the reliability of "the system" and the "don't worry be happy" approach.

I've actually had to email that address twice: once for changing my school list, once for adding a MD award I received... With the latter, I got a response from a specific person (will send you a PM). It was weird, I initially got a response from the generic email address, but after there was a 'problem' with not receiving a faxed copy of the award, I got an email from the person with more specific instructions as to how to fax it directly to her.

Status changed recently to: Qualified Unrestricted Line. Letter from DoDMerb yesterday showing all qualified status. After that change on DoDMERB, phone has been ringing off the wall from NROTC units--all the ones listed on my daughter's list have called. Still no official word about a scholarship though. Tried several times to check app status and am redirected to another login screen--then, nothing.

I should add I believe that Mr. Mullen played a huge role in expediting the matter. Thanks again Mr. Mullen!

What have they been calling about? Anything noteworthy regarding any indication that your daughter might have a scholarship?

Congrats Lee2015 to you and your daughter!

If the NROTC ever gets their site fixed/updated you should see which unit/college your daughter has been assigned. Also if she has been awarded a scholarship (and based on past experience it seems as though she has) you should receive notification in the mail....eventually.

As I understand the process, Larry Mullen may be helpful in any DoDMERB medical/waiver issues you might have but has little to nothing to do with the scholarship process. He has been asked a number of times about how/when DoDMERB is advised about who needs a ROTC physical (specifically the timeline) and either doesn't have the knowledge or has decided to keep it secret.

Well, basically "please apply to _____________." Nothing like "I see you have been awarded a NROTC scholarship, so".

@aglages, thanks!

"Please apply to__________________." definetely sounds as though the colleges/NROTC units THINK your daughter has a scholarship that could be used at their college! :thumb:

DODMERB still says Qualified Unrestricted Line, but nothing shows up on the Scholarship status page. I also have not recieved any calls from NROTC units.

Have you followed through with Mr. Mullen's offer to tell anyone if they have already been awarded a scholarship?

Folks: Please remember, patience is a virtue. I remember the weeks of monitoring the web page to make sure everything was current and correct, followed by weeks of waiting for the boards to make decisions. After making sure your application (or your kid's application) is squared away, I recommend you take a break and relax. Restrict how often you check the status. I know folks around board time who would check the status many times a day. If you find yourself doing that, make a rule you can only check it once a day. Why do I say this? Because by Spring, you will be stressed out and driving yourself and those around you crazy. This is a process. It takes time. You or your kids are in the last year of high school and maybe the last year at home. Relax and enjoy it...Homecoming, Prom, last football games and band competitions and classes and parties with friends. I know it's hard to do...been there, done that...but trust me...the waiting and worrying will not get you an answer any faster. I wish for the best decisions and choices for all of you and your kids. Have a great day!

NROTC Texas A&M

I received my NROTC scholarship to Texas A&M today, but was informed by mail. I called my NROTC coordinator and says they have not put up a way to check it online, yet but should be fixed within next month.

I just got my Dodmerb letter saying im Qualified unrestricted line, no clue what unrestricted line means.

Unrestricted line means you will go into the general service communities: Subs, Aviation, Surface, etc. Restricted line are those communities that require a different path such as SeaBees, JAG, becoming a doctor. All the other mids will get the same designation. And congratulations! (Well, except for the college...Hook 'Em Horns!!!! )

Timeline for DS app:

Aug 28: Complete package submitted to NROTC Selection for review
Oct 27: DoDMERB shows NROTC (pending)
Oct 28: DoDMerb shows Qualified Unrestricted Line (Had prior quals from USMA, USAFA and CGA)
Nov 1: Big fat letter with 4-yr scholarship awarded to University of Southern California Detachment) 1st Choice
Nov 2: Congrats call from local NROTC liason,
Nov 3: NROTC website reflects the change to "Scholarship Awarded"

Now, all we have to do is get admitted to USC (very competative). At least we have "NROTC scholarship in hand" for both the essay and interview, hope that helps. Or, prepare for the "transfer scholarship to other detachment process"

Hope the timeline helps, hang in there,

Go Trojans!
