My DS passed the DODMERB physical when he was a non-scholorship cadet with AFROTC. He switched to NROTC - marine option, and was recently given a sideload scholarship at the end of his sophomore year. DODMERB promptly answered his email and said his current physical is good through February 2015. My question is will he need to redo this at that time or before OCS next summer? I have read somewhere that the physical is good for two years.

I tried searching for information on this but could not find anything specific. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

My DS is heading to OCS in 8 days. DS was not due for a DoDMERB physical, however all OCS bound midshipmen in his unit went through a required military physical this spring. They also had to provide their military medical files. I don't know how extensive it was, but they carted them to Ft. Jackson, SC for it. DS should have been good until sometime Senior year. He thinks there is another brief physical when they arrive just to ensure they're in shape to participate.

Thanks for the info. I figured there had to be some more medical testing done before he heads off about a year from now. How exciting for you and your DS! I wish him the best of luck!

Thanks. Yeah, we and DS are pretty excited and DS is also a little nervous. Trepidation can be a good thing and a little of it, at least initially, will be his ally there.
