And the further along they get the less you'll hear from them, their lives get busier and much more exciting as they earn the privilege of leaving CGA for the weekend. Add a "significant other" to the equation...well, that's what growing up is all about :biggrin:

We call the process "working ourselves out of a job"....good parents do that. :shake:

Yes we miss the day to day interactions, but I guess if they were still calling home for everything at age 25 or 30 or 40...well, that wouldn't be good either.

I'll take the growing pains (ours, not his) of encouraging him to fly solo. Even if that means we don't get to get to know everything that is going on with him. It kinda makes the times we do hear from him that much more meaningful. At least that's how we are getting through this new chapter. *sniff, sniff....:sadwavey:
 
Thank you for that gem. My 17 year old is spending a semester 600 miles away in Wash DC. He has suffered from the "I won't call my folks" itis you are describing. I feel better. He is home for spring break today, going back tomorrow. Meanwhile we will wait to find out about AIM program acceptance next month.
