How solid is a solid "Plan B"?

You need to use her "NACAC" membership against her. If you go to the NACAC website, there is a document called "Statement of Principles of Good Practices" Under the MANDATORY PRACTICES section B, states that ALL members agree they will: "provide, in a timely manner, accurate, legible and complete transcripts for all students for admission or scholarships;"

She does not get to make the decision on whether you are being ethical or not.It is unethical for her to threaten to NOT send the transcripts as she is required to do. Also, the only wording I found wrt accepting an offer to more than one school, says "You should never submit an enrollment deposit to more than one school. It is an unethical practice that may result in your acceptances being withdrawn by the colleges involved." And you aren't doing this, as there is no deposit sent to USNA, so you are only sending a deposit to one school. And, your counselor is also not allowed to disclose to any post secondary school what a student's college preferences are.
Tell her if she does not send the transcripts you will report her to the NACAC via this complaint form: https://adobeformscentral.com/?f=alD1Ax28yuV31cviHbP*nw

The reference above refers to sending timely transcripts for admissions or scholarships, which she has done. He has already been admitted. Final Transcripts being sent to complete a college "enrollment" is a separate issue. I feel we would have more to lose by trying to fight this issue, when I know they won't budge. We will try honey and sweetness with the Director of Admissions at Plan B school. If they know what we are doing and they say it is okay, as well as if USNA or USMA (whichever one he decides on) says it's okay (which I don't know why they wouldn't), then she will be fine with releasing both sets of transcripts.

USMARTOC- Please keep the forum advised as to how this plays out for you guys. We are in a very similar boat as you. DD was blessed enough to get BFE for USNA which she will joyously and proudly accept. Also has NROTC scholarship but not yet received acceptance to first choice (obviously behind SA) school in NC. Has been accepted to 2nd choice school in VA (not the one with NROTC scholarship). So we too are working on plans B and C. Plan is to accept USNA appointment and commence bubble wrapping 'til I day, accept NROTC to NC school (as plan B), and assuming she gets in, send deposit to school in NC (as plan C). DD will talk with guidance counselor this week and see what he has to say re his "ethical" position on transcripts. Another permutation is that if she doesn't get into NC school is to see if she can transfer NROTC scholarship to VA school and submit deposit (plans D & E).

...Good lord, reading my own post makes me realize that we still have a ways to go to even get to the start of the race on I-day. CRAZY!!

Thoughts from those more experienced folks on this board would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats to all with BFEs in hand and best of luck to all those waiting!

I just wanted to let you know the outcome on this. DS wrote to his "plan b" school explaining the situation and requesting their permission to allow him to remain enrolled there, while also accepting his appointment to an Academy. This was the response he got for the admissions officer there, "Congratulations on your acceptance to the military academies. That is a great honor. Being a retired military officer myself and my son being an USMA graduate I understand the honor of being selected to any of the military academies. We will be here if you ever need us and you are still accepted to attend college here if the need arises. I am sure that you will become a fine military officer and I wish you the very best. Again congratulations and GO ARMY BEAT NAVY!!! LOL!" What a great coincidence, huh? DS also emailed West Point, to insure they were also okay with him being "enrolled" at both institutions. They said they had no problem with it and let him know if he were injured prior to or during Beast that they would give him a LOA for next year. DS forwarded both responses to the Guidance Counselor and she thanked him for the getting this cleared with both schoools and said she would be happy to send both schools the final transcript. So all is good here with the back up plan, should it be required.

I'm not a common app expert by any stretch, but DS did submit several common apps and was accepted at several of them, one is his plan B.
It is my understanding the rules that apply to the common app apply to those schools that subscribe to using it and not any other.

If you are enrolling at two common app schools, it may violate that agreement. I would check with the governing body that administers the common app if your Plan B is a member of the group of schools that subscribe to it. May 1 deadline is approaching fast.

I have been successful in requesting a waiver on the housing and orientation deposit. Happily, they cut my fees in half.

OK now I'm in a similar "boat" so to speak. Scholarship and Honors College at second choice. Do we put a deposit down to hold the spot for the summer? Do we turn down the scholarship and honors college? Then inform them prior to the beginning of classes that he will not be attending?

Like USMAROTC, last year my son was appointed to USNA early, received NROTC scholarship to his Plan A school but was not admitted to that school. He was able to transfer the scholarship to another school pretty easily. He eventually decided to accept his appointment but he reached out to the rotc unit at Plan C school who advised him to accept the scholarship and make a deposit on the school. We contacted the school and they were fine with it, especially since they had no intention of refunding our money. Anyway, I guess it was insurance. Son expressed feeling a little shady about accepting scholarship if it meant someone else was not going to get it but he was reassured it it would not go to waste.
