hey i am appying for the usma class of 2015 (going to be a jr this year) and was wondering if anybody could give me some suggestions and critique my resume.
I have a 3.6 GPA (i'll get that up in the next 2 yrs) About all AP/HONORS
my 6/09 SAT SCORES:
CR: 630
M:660
W: 470 ( ya horrible i know didnt prepare and the clock in the room was stuck on the same minute. Also, i was wondering if usma considers this score?)

I am volunteering at my local VA hospital and will have 100 hrs by the end of the summer. I am the class president of my class. I will be joining AFJROTC this year and hope to get a leadership position. I run XC and track but i dont have a letter and i was wondering how important is it to have one considering my school is very athletically competitive.

1) Increase your GPA (you already said you're working on this). What is it weighted?

2) Re-take the SAT/ACT (even if you did well)

3) Try to get some more leadership.

4) Practice for the CFA. Maybe try it a few times to get a feel for what it will be like. Possibly get a letter. Do you think you have a chance at captain?

5) You have 2 years left but most finish their applications only a few months after senior year begins so you really might have less time than that. Apply for SLS, it's a good experience and will help.

Overall, keep at it and stay motivated. Practice your speaking and writting skills for those interviews and essays you will need to do.

Good luck! :thumb:

thanks for the help

the gpa is not weighted. i appreciate that alot. also i was wondering if usma considers the sat writing score. i believe i can do very well on the cfa i work out almost every day and im sure i can break 5:45 in the mile

Don't forget about the other parts of the CFA. You can run the mile in 4 minutes but if you can't pass the push up portion then that amazing mile time won't matter. Just remember that the CFA is a pass/fail thing. In my opinion it would be better to practice for the Army PFT because that's what you'll have to pass once you're at West Point.

Best of luck in your application.

To see how you compare, go to the West Point web site. On the right you'll see a link to each class - click on 2012. You'll see a menu of things - one of them is a profile of the class. While each class is different, it will give you a bit of an idea as to where you stand.

you'll probably get into USMA with that already....if you get XC team captain then your in for sure
