I applied for an army ROTC scholarship and finished my app in time for the first board. When will I know if I get it or not?

this one will come the fastest...remember too, that unless you are in close contact with a ROO you may not know when your the decisions have been made. If you don't get an offer from this board your score just rolls over to the next board. Cadet Command doesn't tell you if you didn't get an offer. Get ready to wait!

Trust me, when the results come out there will be a thread that will let you know they are out!

When will I hear

Once the boards light up, if you hear nothing, then you've been re-boarded. You may or may not receive any communication that you have been re-boarded. Ultimately you may not know until April. You will (well we did anyway) receive a letter in April if you have not been awarded a scholarship.

In the meantime, to keep busy, work on plans B, C, D, and E. We heard last April that DS would not be awarded a scholarship. Plan B was ready to be executed and we had plenty of time to do so.

Good Luck! :thumb:

If you receive a scholarship your status page will change. When it changes it will only state at first that you received a scholarship. It will take a few days before the status page changes again to show which school/schools the scholarship was awarded. The status change will not tell if the award is a 4 or 3 year scholarship.

After the final status change Cadet Command will send out a confirmation letter with the official notice of award. The letter will tell you whether the scholarship is for 4 years or a 3 year AD. The letter you receive is the Official Notice, until you receive the letter nothing is official even though your status page has changed.

Once you receive the letter you will have 30 days to accept or decline the scholarship award. Do not decline the offer because it was not to a school you wanted thinking you will be reviewed again. If you decline the scholarship, that's it, your done.

This advice is going by last year's reports:

1) This Board will have a bunch of posts from people whose status changed and they are Scholarship Awardees. Per other posts here, that sounds like just before Hollween this year, give or take a week.

2) Wait at lest 2 (two) days, as the status updates can take that long. I get the idea that 1-3 humans are inputting the Board results manually.

If after those two days you absolutely must know b/c you think there is a mistake, then call/email the ROO at your #1 listed school and ask him/her to look you up in their System as to your status.

Status Page

Just clarifying....by "Status Page" your refering to the Status Page on the cadet Command Web Site that lists what has and has not been received for your application?

Just checking....Thanks!

That's correct.

remember that the offer isn't official until you have a letter in your hand signed by the Commander of Cadet Command. Online statuses change, and can be changed until that letter gets mailed. A smart ROO is probably your best resource if the wait becomes unbearable. Sometimes we are told we can't release the results of the board until the letters are mailed, but if I tell one of my applicants they should keep an eye on their mailbox I probably have a pretty good indication there will be something good delivered soon.
Every time you start getting anxious about the results of the board do 100 pushups and go for a run and you'll feel much better.

sometimes...sometimes not, but having you guess whether the fact you were given the go ahead to schedule your DODMERB means anything or not can be alleviated by the ROO telling you they see an offer posted or not (or having them tell you to keep an eye on your mailbox). Wait till you see the discussion board freak out the first time someone's DODMERB status changes and you'll know why I advocate for keeping in touch with a competent ROO.
