HS Sports Injuries

I am a very competitive person and I love sports, however I have been injured so much it's difficult to return to my regimen. I have just healed my ankle sprain, and the doctor cleared me without restrictions. With basketball season (winter sport) coming up soon, would it be wise to go ahead and tryout? Or should I use this time instead to strengthen my ankle and participate in track (spring sport) instead? Thoughts?
 
I'm no health expert, but I would suggest that you be safe and wait a little before returning to any physical activity. If your goal is to go to a service academy, then you wouldn't want to risk injuring yourself again which can possibly become worse than it was before, which will affect your admission or ability to perform well at the academy.
