DS got a letter from CC today asking for him to add his proposed senior year activities and have guidance counselor initial off and also have nurse verify his height/weight. There was a form for the 12th grade activities but nothing for the school nurse. How should he proceed with that? Just have nurse write a letter and sign it and fax?

Also, I will share about what happened when I asked his HS to do this today. The nurse was out so I will complete that task later, I asked the Guidance Counselor office for assistance with sending the new form from CC that we received today. They balked and said they could not verify something ie. 12th grade activities that have not occured. I showed them the letter from CC but they looked bewildered and said his coach should sign off on it. I said it asks for his counselor not his coach. BTW, there were both athletic and club activities listed for 12th grade. The bottom line was I asked if they could help me or not and they said no, I then asked to see the school Principal who graciously viewed the paperwork and initialed/signed off verifying the info. This is the only bad experience I have ever had with DS's school. I probably made them mad because before I left I said, "You are supposed to help, not hinder" and which time the guidance receptionist told me I was rude. I am not a confrontational person but I needed help. If I sound like I was out of line please let me know.

Nothing you said seems that out of line to me...but I work retail where people often completely act insane. DS's counselor was not very helpful, either. She had not processed an AROTC scholarship application since the old method when the decisions where handled at the school level vs CC. She could not believe we needed multiple papers and transcripts over the summer between jr/sr year. DS was also the first to finish college applications(first week of school). Our high school isn't anti military at all, just typically has AFROTC more than the other branches so lack of information was very common - but yes, I would have said something to a counselor who refused to follow clearly written instructions on a form.

Oh, be prepared - I had to write a note giving the school nurse permission to weigh/chart DS's information and sign a HIPPA release:rolleyes: And also for a school gym teacher to handle the PFT. This is unfortuantely just the begininng of the stupidity you will experience this coming year. Laughing about it and coming here to vent are GREAT coping methods:thumb:

    School Nurse

Is there any specific way my DS is to have the school nurse verify my DS height and weight? He was advised to have the school nurse verify and send results back to CC. Any specific form? Anything? Hello? :)

When my DS did it, he just had the nurse write his ht & wt at the bottom of the same paper that the guidance counselor had signed. She put the date, his ht & wt, her signature, and then printed her name and put her phone number below her name. It was fine.

Sorry, Coach Bart, I was "unplugged" for a few days while at college orientation.... DS's nurse just wrote on a piece of school letterhead his name, last 4 ss#, his height, weight and attention who ever was his contact person at CC's attention, it was faxed, scanned and emailed and later snail mailed just to be sure :).

BTW, I think the last day and a half of orientation + AROTC orientation might qualifiy for as silly as some CC protocals and decisions...
