Happy I Day!!!

You all can do it!! (even you parents like me who are having a much harder time with this than their appointees right now!).

Be tough!! Good luck!

Goodbye everyone! Thanks for everything. See you on the flip side.

Go bless and keep you all. Keep the faith and od speed to each and every one of you!! Class of 14 will be the best!!

Good luck those reporting to USAFA today. 3 more days for us USMA kids. For all those beginning their service academy and ROTC adventures- good luck classes of 2014!

Good luck everyone! I hope you guys will stay on SAF. 3 more days for us USCGA kids, too.

Just found the first 3 pics of my son on Webguy in the briefing tent looking happy so far! (yes, this is before the bus ride!).

If anyone would like me to send postcards/encouraging notes to their child during BCT or (especially) for A-Day, please PM me with the name and PO Box. My sons still have all their cards and they really enjoyed them!

Good luck class of 2014, and hugs to you parents!

Dang little sister. Today starts the official 1st day of our boy's 3rd year at the academy. Time moves too fast. Hey, i'm coming out to Jersey next month. Not sure if I can get to Pennsylvania. If not, we definitely need to hook up in September. (Parent's weekend).

Anyway, for you 2014 parents, rest assured that your "babies" are in good hand. (Don't worry, even as retired air force and my son a C2C, he's still my baby.) Anyway, they will do fine. Don't worry about not hearing from them every day. It's more important that you send them letters EVERY DAY!!! You are their only sense of NORMALCY for the next 5-6 weeks. But the next time you see him/her, you will be impressed. Hang in there. Check out the AOG website. A lot of good photos and videos. You might even get lucky and see some of your son/daughter. Take care. Mike....

No fair! No fair! I only found two of DD! :yllol::yllol:

Glad you found some though! :thumb: Went through the next batches and found another 3 of DS. 2 different locations at least (2 of the shots are very similar). None after the bus though. Probably good I had to work this afternoon so I didn't sit here and wait for them to load one at a time like I'm doing now!

Yep, that's what I'm doing now. So far I haven't found any more. I think she went thru pretty early so maybe she beat the photographers.

She also didn't text so I have no idea of her squadron/lanyard color. (How hard can it be to pick 'em out anyway?!?!?:yllol:)

I can hear it all going on outside my window, and i can see it all, too. a lot of seven basic responses...

if it's any consolation, a lot of us would just like to go up to your kids and give them a big hug right now. i feel so bad!! of course, that won't happen, we'll just hardly be watching from a distance.

it will go by faster than you know

I had two people text/call me with his lanyard color - one mom from the board who I've emailed (and I really, really appreciate it) and then his sponsor much later in the day. She said that all the kids were allowed to carry while doing much of the inprocessing was their paperwork and drivers' license so even though they knew their info, by then there was no way they could text/call. She saw my son's color from a distance and he held up fingers to give her the academic year squadron (luckily it was a single digit one!). The other mom from the boards had just gone to a table there and asked for me. :thumb:

However, I haven't found any pics of him after they went to the cadet area and he's wearing the lanyard anyway so hasn't been much help today! Theoretically as time goes on, they take pics by squadron more and sort them on the website so it'll help more then. He was also early so I'm guessing Webguy wasn't in the cadet area when he was doing some of this stuff! Good luck!

Congrats to all the members of 2014 class. We were able to drop off our DS today and the Air Force really runs it very thoroughly. A big thank you to the Colorado Parents club for hosting picnic for any interested parents it was great. Met a lot of great parents but I doubt I can remember all the names but it was great comparing notes. Let the rest of the ride begin.

Wow, what a day!

How long have we been waiting for this day??? Unbelievable! Our congrats to the class of 2014! We were impressed by how smoothly inprocessing went and how nice everyone was. (well, everything at the AOG.) Watched our son board the bus. Enjoyed the picnic put on by the Colorado Parents Club. Then we waited along the Chapel Wall for 90 minutes as groups of 3-7 basics would walk from Sijan towards their dormitory. We even saw our son walk by, fresh haircut, carrying a duffle bag, wearing fatigues (?). Looking forward to being at the wall tomorrow to watch the swearing in.

Wife and little brother having a tough time today, but I'll sneak up there occasionally to watch after work...:thumb:

I met lots of nice parents with red eyes???

2014 -- Best to be seen!!

We dropped off our son (bsa07eagle) today and saw many of the appointees from the orientation dinner. The Colorado Parents Club picnic was fantastic. We are certainly blessed to be local here, even though we will not see him the next 5 weeks any more than all of you outside Colorado. I can't believe it has been 27 years since I jumped in that line (Class of 87). What a journey each of them are on.
