I-day is here

We dropped off our son (bsa07eagle) today and saw many of the appointees from the orientation dinner. The Colorado Parents Club picnic was fantastic. We are certainly blessed to be local here, even though we will not see him the next 5 weeks any more than all of you outside Colorado. I can't believe it has been 27 years since I jumped in that line (Class of 87). What a journey each of them are on.
Should have been there June 25, 1979...

I met lots of nice parents with red eyes???

Must have been all the pollen in the air that caused the red eyes. Funny, I had the same condition at our airport in Green Bay as I said good-bye to my son. Darn allergies!

The parental "Red Eye Syndrome" lasts all four years at the academy and beyond. My recommendation for all of the new academy parents is to have a USAFA Parents Survival Kit with you at all times. The kit should include the following items:

Dark Sunglasses
Large travel size tissue box
Magnifying glass so you can better id your basic or their back or their ear on Web Guy
Valium or other tranquilizer (comes in hand when they do things like jump out of airplanes, first solo flight on the T-6, attend SERE training to mention only a few times)
Sense of Humor
Patience

Welcome aboard, the ride gets bumpy at times but what a ride it is!
