I-Day Minus 1

I'm still going through therapy from the emotional trauma. Some wounds never heal. :shake:

Time does miminize the pain, though.
Comments from DD:
Thanksgiving/Christmas of Plebe year: "I don't want to talk about it" (Plebe summer)
Summer after Plebe year "Thank goodness it's over, and I NEVER have to be a Plebe again." She still didn't want to talk about it.
A few days ago (Summer after Youngster year): "It's I-day. What are some of those sites that had all the Plebe summer pictures. Do you think they'll have any up yet?" She skimmed through several hundred pictures, although I think she was more interested in pictures of the detailers (including several good friends) than the Plebes. As she skimmed the pictures, I heard more comments about her own Plebe summer than I have during the past two years!

New Plebes have always held a fascination for everybody - especially the new Youngsters. You can go through Sea Trials, climb Herndon, and put on that one diagonal stripe - but, emotionally, you're still a Plebe until you see another, real, Plebe.

That's when it really hits you - "I'm not a Plebe anymore."

You have to see somebody else be a Plebe before you can really accept that that's not you anymore.
