You are right, I think it is two "booms"! The windows literally shake and it rocks you through the core! The first time I felt it I was shocked I thought someone was goose hunting outside my window!

For quite a few years, I worked at a Navy base where explosive fuses were being tested (among other things) in a bunker near our building. We were fairly well accustomed to having our building shake several times a day. Then came the day when an aviator on a training run timed his/her very low level flyover just as a fuse was being lit off. A number of us just about hit the deck. Very funny!

Just wait until EOD does a big disposal of unexpended ordinance out at the drop zone. Returning aircraft could not ordinarily land "hot". On occasion dropped all ordinance and used to go big "BOOM" every once in a while. Never got a heads up but it was loud. Those EOD guys earned their money.
