As I begin looking for the 5 college choice list for NROTC scholarship app, I began wondering what would be the best path if I wanted to re-apply for USNA next year:

    1. Attend a prestigious college and possibly not get the top GPA?

    2. Attend an instate school where earning the top grades is easier?
Plus many state colleges offer honor colleges.

logic is- Should I be the big fish in a small bowl or just a medium size fish in a huge aquarium?

How does USNA view attending a top30 school vs going to a state college?

It is probably harder to stand out academically at Duke than at NC State (just an example, not personal).

Attend the best school you can. Reality is you may not ever get into USNA and then where will you be. I can't speak for USNA, but everthing you read hear here talks about rigor. Good luck with your application.
