I know we all hope to make it, but if you don't do USNA, what are your plans? How many colleges have others applied to and which ones, and were you accepted?

My plans (will be graduating in 2012, probably a year younger than you):
top choices:
1. USNA
2. USMMA
3. USAFA
4. USCGA

Plan B's

Realistic: NROTC/ AFROTC at: UVA, U of Michigan, Unv of Florida
Reach schools: Duke, Vanderbilt, and Cornell

Safety: Clemson, Un of South Carolina (both instate)

I have applied to nine schools total, and have gotten into my top three so I really don't know what I will do at this point.

1. USNA (accepted)
2. Georgetown (accepted- applied for NROTC)
3. Notre Dame (accepted- applied for NROTC)
4. Bowdoin
5. Tufts (applied for NROTC)
6. UVA (applied for NROTC)
7. Muhlenberg
8. Loyola Maryland
9. Colgate

I don't even want to think about deciding right now.

I applied to 4.
1. USNA (Accepted) (I also applied to USAFA/MA, but I could only get nominated to one, so I chose USNA)
2. MIT (Waiting with NROTC Offer)
3. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (NROTC Offer)
4. Univ. of Florida (Instate, 100% Scholarship)
I'm considering cancelling my MIT app, because I got accepted to USNA. But the other two schools, especially UF, I'm keeping open just in case I get injured.

I'm in the same boat as navy2016. I won't graduate until 2012, however I do have a list of schools I am looking at.

1.USNA
2.USMA
3.Purdue
4.The Ohio State University-main campus
5.Northwestern
6.University of Mount Union
7.Notre Dame(only keeping this one, because my coach really wants to see me apply)

1. USMA
2. USNA
3. University of Georgia (Army ROTC Scholarship - Applied)
4. University of Florida (Army/NROTC Scholarship - Applied)
5. University of North Carolina (Army ROTC Scholarship - Applied)
6. University of Kentucky - Accepted w/ 12K Scholarship (Army ROTC Scholarship - Applied)
7. Auburn University - Accepted w/ 20K Scholarship (Army/NROTC Scholarship - Applied)
8. University of Alabama - Accepted w/ 14K Scholarship (Army ROTC Scholarship - Applied)
9. The Citadel - Accepted

I have a nomination to both USMA and USNA, waiting on another nomination to USMA and of course, an appointment (hopefully). If not USMA/USNA, I will do Army ROTC or Navy ROTC Marine Corps Option at one of the above schools. I did apply for both scholarships, haven't heard anything from either one yet.

1) USNA (received LOA, waiting for nominations)
2) Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (applying regular decision)
3) Massachusetts Institute of Technology (got deferred from early action to regular decision)
4) Georgia Institute of Technology (accepted early action and semi-finalist for President's Scholarship so if I get a full ride, I would seriously consider attending here)
5) University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (applying regular decision)
6) Worcester Polytechnic Institute (accepted early action)
7) Case Western Reserve University (maybe applying regular decision)
8) Drexel University (maybe applying regular decision)

Late November, I applied for the NROTC scholarship for RPI, MIT, Georgia Tech, Umich, and WPI. Haven't heard back yet.

I have no idea which I would pick if given the choice between at least 2: USNA, RPI with NROTC, MIT with NROTC, or Georgia tech with president's scholarship and/or maybe NROTC.

1) USNA (Waiting stage)
2) Georgetown (NROTC)
3) Univ of Florida (NROTC)
4) Embry Riddle Aeronautical Unv (Accepted, NROTC)
5) FSU (Accepted)
6) UCF (Accepted)

We are serious

Great plans and we have worked hard so far! It is good to know others have done as much paperwork as I have for sure!

First Choice USNA

Second NROTC scholarship candidate

Accepted to:
Auburn
NC State
Embry-Riddle
Tuskegee

If I attend one of the above colleges I will join their NROTC unit and Go Navy after college. I want my military career to last a lifetime. :thumb:

Military
1. USNA
2. USMA

Just need nomination to both

State Schools
3. U of Alabama
4. Ole Miss

Accepted to both

If you guys aren't accepted but still desire to go to the Naval Academy why not do prep school for a year? Two of my friends at USCGA were self preps and were admitted. It just depends on what you want.

ghpugh and gonavybeatarmy, where are you located? Alabama? That is where I am. I live in Prattville. My curiosity was sparked from the colleges you applied to. I was just wondering.

tsearcy - Yes, I am from Birmingham. Alabama is my number one after USNA and USMA. It's good to see someone else from here on this site.

Good deal. Best of luck to everyone. I do not know if I will get in or not. I have recieved a nomination but nothing else so far. Hopefully something will happen soon. Auburn NROTC Marine option may be a possibility if not accepted to USNA. If that falls through, I will be a regular college student waiting for PLC I gues:cool:confused:

@tsearcy

No I am not from Alabama, but I am from North Carolina. I have visited your state many, many times as my Mom's family is from there. I have been to Prattville. I have helped her "decorate" Toomer's corner.
I hope that we both hear something. If not, I will most likely be at Auburn in the NROTC.
I guess I know who we are pulling for during the BCS championship game in January!:thumb:

You live in a great state.
Good luck to you.
Go Navy!
War Eagle!

Update to future plans if not USNA

Update your plans if they change.

Here is my update:

First Choice USNA, waiting, have nomination

Second NROTC scholarship awarded (assigned to NC State NROTC unit)

Accepted to:
Auburn
NC State (awarded NROTC scholarship assigned to their unit)
Embry-Riddle (awarded 20,000 scholarship)
Tuskegee

@future pilot Do you mean that you have a NROTC scholarship to each of the schools listed as NROTC? Congratulations.

Some of you have tough choices.

No, not yet! I haven't received the scholarship yet. I'm not sure when I will hear! But if I do, that's my initial plan.

I heard today that I was not nominated from any of my sources. ): I am no longer eligible for USNA. It's heart-breaking, but I'm hoping for second-best. I'm definitely re-applying.

gupugh

I am also from the state of Alabama. The very northeast part. I have recieved a Congresional Nomination and am 3 Q'd.Also did the Summer Seminar. Now just waiting on the Navy. I am looking into going to Marion Military Academy if I don't get in and try again next year. Good Luck to you.

@futurenavypilot

I am sorry to hear that you feel your chances for the USNA are over for this year. How about NAPS? I was asked if I would do NAPS, and I said yes, anything to get to the USNA.
What about NAPS for you?
I am still waiting on a remedial decision by DoDMERB. It should be simple, but reading some other posts here, I guess that you never know.
Good luck to you. Be strong.:thumb:

If I don't get my nomination for USNA, I'll probably go to a City university of New York. I got extremely lazy after my loa, and im trying to do my supplements during the winter break, but I'm very close to admitting defeat.I just have too much other stuff going on.My congressman won't tell who got the nominations to where until like end of january, so i can't rest easy.
