IL nominations?

I got a letter in the mail on Friday (Nov. 23) telling me I received a nomination from Sen. Durbin.

I'm applying to the Naval Academy and West Point. I put West Point down as my first choice on my nomination apps.

I could be wrong but it was my understsnding that you can only pick one to get a nomination to. So if you put West Point first, is that where you got the nom to?

I hope things change when I apply for a nomination. I wasn't aware that senators could just decide not to do interviews, hmmm.

Hi Matas,
Some MOCs have committees who interview. Some have their committees read through the submitted packet and choose from there. Of my son's three nomination sources only 1 interviews. The other two review and select from submitted packets. Good Luck to you.

Still have not heard back from my MOC and Senators. But I did get a ROTC nomination three weeks ago.

Congrats VonBub57! My son received a nomination from Senator Durbin around the 23rd also, AFA

Also received my second nomination to West Point from my Congresswoman (IL-13)

IL-6

Son received nomination from Durbin (no interview required) to USNA. He never heard from Kirk but I suspect that as they do not duplicate there will not be an interview with Kirk. Interviewed with Roskam last weekend but he has not heard. Received his (BFE) appointment today to USNA.

Congrats to your DS! You must feel so proud!

right now-just feeling "done." maybe proud comes later.

Thanks again for all of your tips and suggestions over the past 1 1/2 years.

I've received a nomination from Sen. Durbin and Aaron Schock (18th), I'm going to call Sen. Kirk's office to see what's up.

I got a letter dated Dec. 5th from Sen. Kirk's office saying I wouldn't get a nomination from him since I already had received one from Sen. Durbin.

for those heading to usna from IL, I contacted the Northern Illinois Naval Academy Parents Association to be asked to be put on their mailing list. They sent me a contact for a discount at a hotel for Iday and PPW. Coincidentally I was already booked at that hotel, but I tried the contact anyway and they took $200.00 off my bill. You may want to reach out to the Northern Illinois Naval Academy Parents Association.

We recently looked at the MOC applications, and they have all of the academies listed and the instructions are to order them by preference. From reading your posts I see Durbin and Kirk don't duplicate, what if you are applying to 2 academies? Would you apply to Kirk for AFA and Durbin for USNA? (for example)
Scared!
