IL nominations

I don't think I will ever view checking the mail the same again! Gosh, I can't decide which is worse...no mail or those horrid white envelopes!

After receiving "not you" from both Durbin and Kirk; when last night I checked the mail because I was still waiting on a gift...there was another little envelope. I handed it to son while trying not to cry knowing that this was it for his academy dreams. He looked at. Held it up to the light. Turned it over in his hands a couple times. I asked him if he wanted to wait until later. He asked, "When later?" And after a shrug he opened it.

He received Congressman Foster's nomination to both AFA and USNA!

Good luck to all who are still waiting for nominations! If this doesn't kill us, I don't know what will...maybe (hopefully?) plebe or BCT summer!

Dial the gate..lived through that last year. DS received 2 rejections last year. He was at a wrestling tournament when the third and final envelope came in from our congresswoman. He got a text from a friend who was waiting as well. Since it was a home tourney...he asked if I would pick it up and text him with the results as he was rolling up the mats with his team. So I went home...found the envelope in the mailbox and for the first time ever...i opened his mail. Thankfully it was a nomination. Needless to say, I was not going to text him so I drove back to the school and handed him the letter. He happened to be with his team, coaches andmyounger brother. When he read the results...he was kinda quiet...his coach asked what the results were..when he said it was his nomination...his brother ran down the bleachers and jumped in his arms and gave him a big hug and the team joined in. One of those moment I will never forget. Congrats to you and your family and best of luck wait7ng for that bfe! Happy holidays!

That is fantastic news! Congrats to your son. Now time to kick back, relax and enjoy the holidays. We should get at least some news from the Academy in the next 3 weeks.
