Its already May and I still haven't recieved any word on the AROTC scholarship. I don't know how I'm going to pay for school and flight training at the same time.

My PMS told me this: "I am told that the board offers will be posted sometime next week."

Flight training is a perk. Concentrate on getting your education and degree.

My PMS at Fresno State offered me a 3-year scholarship, a little disappointed that I didn't get a 4-year. But happy that I got one at least.
Don't loose hope you guys. I hope he doesn't see this post:eek:

Congratulations Gameface!
Glad you're happy with that offer.
The wait is over for you.

Congrats! :thumb:

Thanks but I still need to find the means and way to pay for my first year. I'm thinking of getting a job and using my financial aid to pay off my first semester and using my wages to pay off the second semester.

Congratulations, Gameface! Did you fill out your FAFSA already? If so, then Fresno State should be able to tell you what types of loans you're qualified for. Then, sign up for those because you don't have to start paying them until 6 months after you finish school. On top of that, the interest rate is very low on the federal loans, and is even tax deductible if you can itemize.

DS hasn't heard if he's going to be offered any type of AROTC scholarship, so he enrolled at our local university and will reapply next year.

Good luck to everyone who's still waiting to hear something!

Is SMP a possibility at Fresno State? Several in this area are doing that.

As mentioned, you should already have your FAFSA filed and hopefully, you will qualify for the full amount of Stafford Loans ($3500 subsidized, $2000 unsubsidized). If you can swing another $2000 in work-study grant, you are about 3/4 of the way to instate tuition and R&B (~10,500 IIRC for in-state).

A summer job would definitely help and you should be looking for it this afternoon, although I recognize in this economy even part-time jobs are hard to fine.

And BTW, FA is granted by the semester (for example the maximum Stafford you would get for the first semester would be $1750 subsidized + $1000 unsubsidized). Work study would be credited to your account as you put in the hours.

Hope things are working out for you...
