    Good Morning,

I am wondering if any shots not recorded on the official immunization record that I would send to USAFA, would be administered to me on I-Day? Or do I have to get every shot that it says to get on the sheet and update my record?

    Any information is appreciated! Thanks.

I don't know about USAFA but at USNA any vaccinations your missing are administered that first day. I would imagine it is the same for the other SA's.

Recommend getting shots in advance, if (a) that's what "it says to get" and (b) you want to avoid left and right arm aches that first day while hauling gear, doing push-ups, holding planks, etc.

If you regular medical provider won't do it, look for a county public health office.

USAFA's official policy is that you must be 100% compliant (and fully documented) before you will be authorized to travel for in-processing. That is, your immunization records must match 100% with the dates you enter for the vaccinations. That is why you are required to provide a copy of your immunization record when you submit the vaccination dates.

Definitely have the TDap (Tetanus specifically) done. Of all the required vac shots, this has the longest lingering soreness. My DS's arm was sore arm for a week. TB test is another one since no lotion or soap on the test spot for 48 hours and I imagine that BCT will be sweaty and dirty.

Recommend having copies of important paperwork (in a folder) such as the immunizations form, dental records, etc, all of the required stuff with you as you process.

The only immunization DD does not have is for the Flu. Considering these vaccines are normally available and/or given in the fall and winter, will she be given this on I-Day, or will USAFA just wait until the normal "season" starts?

My DD didn't get the flu shot before I-day because it wasn't available. It was no big deal. When the cadets got their next round of flu vaccines in the fall, she just stood in line with the rest of them. They didn't give her a flu shot on I-day

They get the flu mist which, I believe, is the weakened bug, while the shot is synthetic. My DD's pediatrician recommends the shot over the mist, but that is your call at least for this year. After that, its the mist for the whole time at USAFA & probably military career.

For anyone needing the flu shot, check with your local health department. All of the pharmacies and doctor's offices were out because it wasn't flu season where we live but our local health department still had them so we were able to get it through them.

Solved by DD contacting USAFA clinic who had her put a date and note about them saying it was OK.

Yes seems silly. We got the last flu shot that the office had and was told it would only be good for a month or so? The newly formulated flu shot is soon to be out for the coming fall
