Important News

I am sure someone asked this but will your portal show first or will the TWE come first? I open the mailbox and hold my breath for my DS everyday! No news to me is still good news!

Does anyone know if turndown emails actually went out?
Per the Facebook post:

The Admissions Office will start emailing Turndown Notifications to candidates on Feb 9, 2016. This will continue on a weekly basis through April 15, 2016. Candidates will be notified of USNA Offer Status via email / online application (CIS).

I guess it's a formality, but you would think a candidate would know they hadn't completed the app therefore were not eligible.
I was referring more to receiving a notification of being scholastically and/or physically qualified or receiving a denial notification rather than an offer of appointment. I wasn't sure if I could be declined before being reviewed medically. I was also unsure if I could be notified of other qualifications before being triple Q'd.

taymcg12, my response was to the post regarding candidates who did not complete their app getting rejection notices. I believe medicals that are completed but still be reviewed are different. I meant candidates that didn't submit a CFA or all the required scholastic items. I'm not an expert but from what I've read, the USNA doesn't send out 3Q'd notices, your only indication would be an appointment or sadly a "qualified not selected" notice.

So did a lot of people receive appointments today? I didn't notice a big increase on the 2020 appointments page. I know not every candidate uses SAF but still...

Yep, it's true. DD received the "We have closed your application" letter today in her email as she never finished it. She was set on USAFA and once she received that appointment, USNA was dropped from her mind. Congrats to all who have received appointments, and to those still waiting, never give up hope.

DS portal changed 2/9 am but we were informed last week from senator to watch for it. DS also received an email from USNA stating he was appointed. Waiting for BFE to arrive...

Congrats to your DD, there are lots of legit reasons to not finish the app and that is a great one. Best of luck to her at the USAFA.

RPHsue, Congratulations!! Just FYI, it took two weeks for the BFE to arrive by snail mail!

BTW, has anyone else been underwhelmed by the BFE? Kind of looks like they bought the plastic folder at Staples.

I second that. All I cared about was that it was a BFE. Plus, it's a lot more than the acceptance letters I've received from other colleges...

Haven't seen what USNA provides, as my son is still waiting to hear if he will receive an appointment from USNA. He did receive one from USMA, and that package is impressive for sure. Everything about WP seems to be done with tremendous style and class; not that the others lack in those regards.

I am sure it won't matter to my son what it looks like, as long as he gets one. My understanding is that usafa does not send one at all, which I think is a bit disappointing. It is nice to have at least something as a keepsake.

Bottom line is getting the ticket in, and really doesn't matter if it is printed on the back side of discarded draft of the USNA admissions office Superbowl squares board, as long as it gets you in.

Not to sound too pathetic, but it would be neat if someone provided an itemized content list or even photographed the contents of a BFE from any SA.

Perhaps even that rare person who gets (2); just what is contained.

DS is blessed to have appointments to all three. Here is what he got:
West Point- Really, really nice certificate and holder. Looked like what a collegiate diploma comes in. Nice letter of congratulations and a certificate. Cool antique looking photo of west point on the inside of the folder.
USNA- Nice letter and certificate with cool photos of jets taking off of carriers in a less impressive but adequate plastic folder
USAFA= No BFE at all, just a letter sent through the portal.

Congrats on the triple offers.

Nice job by your son! Mine also hoping for the trifecta. Which academy will your son choose, and why? He must have had real nice numbers and resume to receive all three appointments this early. I am curious, if you are willing to share the highlights of his resume.
