I'm currently an ms1. We had our first pft at the beginning of the month and I passed with a 260. I maxed push-ups, did well on the run, but barely passed my battalion's standard (70 pts) for not being on remedial for the sit-ups. What are some good workouts to improve sit ups? I've been doing unassisted sit ups, crunches, planks, and other stuff to improve but I don't think I'm seeing much progress. Thanks for your help.

As a guy who always maxes sit-ups, I can tell you with certainty that the only reliable way to max sit-ups is to do a lot of sit-ups. That's really all there is to it. I do at least 100 every day to keep muscle memory and I've never had an issue. All the high speed exercises in the world won't help you if you don't just do the exercise itself and build your proficiency.

You just need to do a lot of them. My DS first PFT with his recruiter was around a 270 in July. He worked hard and scored a 291 last Friday. He worked his way up and was doing around 300 situps a night before last week. He would set his timer at 2 minutes and do as many as he could. Then, take a 5 minute break and do it again. Did the same with his pullups. He maxed both out when he took his actual PFT last week.

Do sit-ups everyday but also included other ab workouts in your workout. I do 100 sit-ups everyday, 2 1-minute planks, 2 45-second sides planks, 1-minute of flutter kicks, and 1-minute of bicycles. It is all about working your abs daily to build up muscle memory and strength.
