Got this email from an Army ROTC cadre at UNG. I'll just put in the important parts:

Here is a summary of the statistics from 2013:

US Army Cadet Command money available for scholarships: $41,000,000

Applicants: 8,462

Army ROTC Scholarships awarded to graduating high school seniors: 2,501

And more about UNG specifically:

Number of officers UNG must commission in 2013-14: 76

UNG is one of only six Senior Military Colleges in the country.

UNG has been funded for 39 Army ROTC scholarships for next year.

For 2013-2014, UNG had 393 scholarship applicants (of which about half were very well qualified and very interested in North Georgia) for 38 scholarships.

So there you have it. Roughy 8500 applicants for 2500 scholarships last year.
